Jai Khanna, has been culturing thoughts and ideas to contemporise 400 years old art form of Pichwai’s & Miniatures. His sole approach is to bring an absolute new version of old form which are conceptualized as real in his dreams. The subjects are traditional but the way they are approached & conceptualized is personal & special. It is about obsession & interpretation of form, how a Swaroop seen by him, evolves its existence through its vision and presented to the world. It tries to capture “shrinath ji” in a sublime presentation which is closest to his heart with a very staunch feeling of shri around.
Jai’s journey towards shrinath ji started when in school in 3rd standard briefly drawn a small sketch of shrinath ji without knowing any details about the form – image of Shrinath ji was always around till the time he discovered his guru where he was introduced to Shrinath ji. During this time, Jai developed understanding of Pushti marg & comprehensive detailing of various darshan’s & shringar’s. Learned the art in true form starting from colour formations, types of kalams & different bases in terms of cloth, board & wood. Love for art & passion for creativity had always been an eminent part of Jai’s life as his elder brother is an avid art collector & connoisseurs for almost 2 decades now.
Jai’s first show in Delhi at Gallery Art Centrix space in 2019 .The entire exhibition was planned with an objective to re-invent the Pichwai art & add on to the most contemporary manner as far as possible.
